Just how good are these Nokia BL-5C used battery packs lying around in your bottom drawer for hobby purposes?
I found two in my electronics dump. I decided to measure the main discharge characteristics of them including their current capacity and the energy stored in them.

I love RPN calculators so for you fellow fans I made a script to estimate the output voltage of the HV board when using a standard 10 MO multimeter. (You can use a spreadsheet, python, matlab, etc of course, but where's the fun in that?)
Once you have the linear regression parameters you can calculate the voltage based on an empirical formula you'll find out. Then just one measurement at the HV test point is needed.
If you want to use this open source tool http://www.fischl.de/usbasp/ to program the Muon Hunter, here's a quick rundown on how to do it under Ubuntu.
Download the setup and programs available for the Muon Hunter kit as a single Raspbian image onto a minimum 8 Gb memory card. It's based on Raspbian Jessie.
It includes the AVR programmer feature and the datalogging interface, too.

The latest firmware update for the MCU is available on git. Now it displays the total number of GM counts, too. Thanks for the feature request, Paco. :) You can switch between the averaging and the total modes using the MODE button, plus fixed 2 little bugs.
